Explore the Marietas
Formed thousands of years ago by volcanic activity, the Marietas Islands are a National Preserve from which humans are banned. Wildlife such as the Blue Footed Booby is allowed, as is viewing the island by boat -- a bird-watcher's dream.

Release of the Turtles
Annual releases of sea turtles and their offspring draw visitors to the Riviera Nayarit area, including Punta de Mita. Sea turtle releases occur from July to December every year on beaches throughout the region and can be seen on your own or with a guide.

Punta de Mita offers world-class deep-sea fishing with a bounty of snapper, grouper, roosterfish and mahi mahi. Once you've reeled in the big one, ask a local restaurant to cook your catch for a true ocean-to-table experience.

A remote fishing village in Banderas Bay, Yelapa is accessible only by boat; take a water taxi and spend the day on the golden sand. Try Raicilla (the local moonshine) and indulge in a piece of pie, made fresh daily and delivered to the beach.
